At Upstate, we truly believe in giving back. By supporting rising sporting talent, local communities and businesses across the Northern Beaches, we build an atmosphere like no other and help the community grow together. Below are sponsorships we’ve embarked on over the years and continue to create an everlasting bond within the Northern Beaches region.

As one of the fastest growing water polo clubs in Australia they have had a lot of success at NSW and Australian Club Championships.
Freshwater SLSC
To further support our local beach community Upstate provides direct funding to Freshwater SLSC for education. Through nationally recognised courses Freshwater SLSC members are trained and educated to the highest standard, providing opportunities for skills based development, to effectively patrol Freshwater Beach. Working together we can ensure volunteers are always prepared to save lives and keep the beach safe.
Bushfire relief and ocean clean-up
In 2019, we hosted a charity auction event, showcasing a work by renowned local photographer Guy Williment. All funds raised were split between The Salvation Army to support Australian bushfire recovery efforts, and The Ocean Clean Up, for developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Upstate matched the funds raised on the night and donated to these two very worthy causes.
Collaroy Surf Club
Since the beach culture is such a huge part of our life, we also have been a long-time sponsor of Dee Why SLSC. Upstate offers direct funding towards the educational and social awareness of saving lives. Teaching the youth of today valuable lessons around lifesaving provides them with an important skill that they can use throughout their lives. It helps to both strengthen the local community and increases awareness of water safety.
Marine Life Conservation
Upstate is passionate about preserving our local beaches and as such, contributes annually to the conservation of marine life at Manly’s Shelly Beach and Long Reef’s Reef Beach. Donating to support these local conservation organisations both helps preserve the unique marine biodiversity and promotes marine ecotourism for years to come.
Manly United Football Club
We have partnered with Manly United and MWFA to help raise awareness of the importance of supporting the local community and how sport aids in personal development. An innate partnership between the two companies as over 70% of Upstate staff or their families, have grown up playing or are directly affiliated with Manly Warringah Football Association.
Warringah Rugby Club
Warringah Rugby Club (WRC) has a history spanning more than 50 years on the Northern Beaches. We chose to sponsor WRC because beyond Rugby, it’s an organisation with a clear track record of commitment to the needs of the broader community; delivering activities that better and develops the people and organisations.

Support local business during COVID
The Northern Beaches suffered significantly through COVID; first the initial lockdown, then again in our peak tourism period over Christmas and New Year. To support our local community and small businesses across the beaches, we partnered with 10 of these local businesses to run a promotion. Upstate ran an eight-week campaign that was advertised via social media, our database and various other channels resulting in an increase in digital traffic and interest for each of the local businesses.
