“Find yourself in a better place.”
That’s not just our mantra for our team here at Upstate, it’s so much more than this. It means making a real difference throughout our entire community.
The Northern Beaches is our home, and we’re passionate about our community, neighbours, friends and colleagues. We’ve also worked with various organisations and programs to support young local talent, bushfire relief, marine conservation, local businesses, sporting clubs, and much more – all made possible through the generosity of our partners, stakeholders, and of course, our clients.
Now, we’ve set our sights on our biggest challenge yet: mental health.
With the upcoming Lifeline Surf Classic at Queenscliff Beach on November 20, we’ve come together once again to show our support and raise much-needed funds for Lifeline Northern Beaches, as they continue to provide life-saving support services to our Sydney community.
The wave of Mental Health
Mental Health continues to be an ongoing crisis. Reports show that calls to Lifeline rose by 20% over just the last year, not to mention many other deeply concerning stats.
In response to the growing need for support services, Lifeline Northern Beaches have held the annual Lifeline Surf Classic for the past 4 years to raise the funds they need to continue assisting our community.
With the help of the funds raised, in the last year alone, Lifeline Northern Beaches have:
- Answered more than 66,000 crisis calls
- Answered more than 81,000 Lifeline Texts
- Increased counselling services by 150%
- Held more than 2,500 face-to-face counselling sessions
While the response to their fundraising campaigns has been staggering, Lifeline Northern Beaches continues to experience growing demand for their support services year on year.
So, this year, Upstate is partnering with Lifeline to help them spread awareness, educate the community and support more people needing crucial life-saving assistance.
By participating in the Lifeline Surf Classic, we are:
- Helping Lifeline provide life-saving support services to our community
- Supporting mental health and helping to end the negative stigma
- Raising awareness of issues that affect people close to all of us
- Encouraging others to join our community and grow stronger together
Mental Health affects us all in some way, shape or form. Community-focused campaigns such as the Lifeline Surf Classic enable us to show those who need it most that help is available. By working together, we can give those who are struggling a chance at a brighter future.
Join us in supporting the Northern Beaches community
By taking part in or contributing to the Lifeline Surf Classic, we are helping to save lives in our own backyard. All funds raised will go directly to Lifeline Northern Beaches to enable them to continue to support our friends and neighbours.
To show your support, you can donate to Upstate’s team here. You can also purchase a ticket in the Lifeline Classic Raffle for your chance to win 1 of 7 great prizes.
Alternatively, you can join the fun by starting your own team, and go in with the chance to surf Queenscliff Beach with some of the best local pros in the community.
We embrace our responsibility to our local community
At Upstate, we understand that our position within the Northern Beaches community allows us the opportunity to give back to the people who support us. By participating in fundraising events and campaigns like the Lifeline Surf Classic, we can show our support and ensure that help is always available to those who need it most.
Now, more than ever, we need to come together to support our neighbours throughout these unprecedented times.
