Introducing the Next Generation of Upstate Athletes

At Upstate, supporting local talent has always been part of who we are.

We’re proud to back athletes at different stages of their journey, from emerging talent to those already competing on the world stage.

Some are already competing internationally. Others are rising quickly through national ranks. All are committed to pushing further, and represent the next wave of talent coming out of the Northern Beaches. What connects this group is trajectory, and as we look ahead, we’re excited to support the next generation of athletes coming through.

Introducing the newest members of the Upstate athlete team:

Macy

Dancer @macymac__
Macy has proudly represented Australia in the USA six times, earning two Dance Life National Titles and being named the 2025 Bloch Young Artist, cementing her place as one of the country’s leading young performers.

Oscar

Gymnast @oscar._.scott
1st place at 2026 NSW State Championships and 2nd at the 2025 National Championships, with selection as 1 of 4 gymnasts to represent Australia in Junior International Championship.

Lachie

Surfer @lachiepye1
Lachie has delivered standout results across multiple surfing competitions this year, claiming 1st place at the Dee Why Surfing Fraternity competition, 4th at the Northern Beaches Regional and Surfest Indigenous Classic, while qualifying for the State Titles in Coffs Harbour.

Parker

Snowboarder @thesushishredder
Parker has spent more than 130 days on snow across Thredbo, Whistler and Mammoth throughout 2025, recently training with the Australian junior squad in Mammoth while competing with the Whistler Valley Snowboard Club and continuing to develop his competitive snowboarding career internationally.

Vaughn, Rene and Mateo were part of Upstate’s inaugural athlete search – a program created to back emerging local talent with big ambitions and even bigger drive. Since joining the team, each has gone on to carve out an impressive path in their respective sports.

Extreme Snowboarder @vaughno88

Vaughn has risen to become Australia’s #1 ranked extreme snowboarder, competing globally in the Mammut Freeride World Championships,

Rene

Surfer @rene__galloway

Rene has travelled internationally with Billabong, featured in Tracks Magazine and secured multiple first-place finishes across local and state competitions.

Mateo

Boxer @mateo.tapia

Originally from Narrabeen and now based in Florida, USA, Mateo Tapia continues to make his mark on the international boxing scene, recently signing with Zuffa Boxing while maintaining an undefeated 18–0 professional record, including 11 knockout victories.

We’re incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved and grateful to have been part of their journey.
